WINFIELD MUNICIPAL BAND ? “Rockin’ & Rollin’ in Baden Square”


Baden Square will be Rockin’ and Rollin’ on Friday, July 20th, with the music of the Winfield Municipal Band. The concert will begin with the singing of our National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner led by Web Roth. Jenny Kelly will be the featured soloist playing a 1925 C.G. Conn Sousaphone. Also included on the concert are traditional marches and a sacred selection. The band is under the baton of Karen
Morrell.

Weekly concert features include the children’s march (complete with a home-baked cookie by Winfield’s greatest cookie maker (Trudy Yingling) and a coupon for a free Italian Soda provided by Blenda Hoskins (College Hill Coffee Shop), an audience sing-a-long, and the audience choice of one selected march with the opportunity to direct the
selected march. The Walnut Valley Foot and Ankle will provide a bottle of cold water for audience members.

A big band jazz ensemble comprised by Winfield Municipal Band members will once again be performing from 6:30 pm – 6:45 pm. Selections will include music from the big band era along with the vocal talents of Jim and Virginia Vanek.

Park benches are provided for the concert, however, lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. In spite of the heat, the Friday night concert provides a great venue for Jazz, Marches, Singing, and Rockin’ and Rollin’ on the Baden Square Green. The entertainment is free andopen to the public.
